Le Tour de France route right on our doorstep!!

Yes, the world renowned le Tour de France passed within less than 10 feet (3 metres) of Westfield Lodge Apartments on Sunday, 6th July 2014 – giving our guests a fabulous, almost unrivalled opportunity to see this fantastic spectacle while enjoying a well-deserved holiday break here in the very heart of Brontë country.

With ‘The Grand Départ’ taking place in Leeds (just 25 miles away from where we are), le Tour passed through Skipton (13 miles away) and finished in Harrogate (30 miles away), all on the previous day (the 5th). Westfield Lodge was perfectly located for those wishing to see lots of action over the two day period.

2015 – First ever Le Tour de Yorkshire

Such was the success of the previous year’s ‘Grand Depart’ that the French organisation responsible for Le Tour agreed to a special ‘Tour de Yorkshire which again passed through Haworth. This is scheduled to become an established annual event on the professional cycling calendar. Watch out for details of next year’s race.

So, why not cycle part of the route before the event? If that’s too strenuous, we are within easy reach of some of the most spectacular stretches/sections of the National Cycle Network, including The Great Northern Trail (just two miles away in Cullingworth).

If you prefer something more challenging then we are just a ‘stone’s throw’ away from more demanding and exhilarating moorland tracks, so get your helmet and clips on and head this way!

Call us for further details. Hope to see you soon.
