KWVR – Everything you need to know

Whether you fancy a day riding the steam train from Keighley to Oxenhope and stopping off at local attractions or are an ultimate steam train enthusiast. The Keighley Worth Valley Railway runs everyday and offers a variety of attractions and events. Why not combine your stay at Westfield Lodge with a trip on the KWVR?

Events this Summer!

Class 08 celebration – 18/06/16 – Ride behind both of the railway class 08 shunters.

Haworth Haddock – 18/06/16, 23/07/16, 13/08/16, 27/08/16, 24/09/16 – Enjoy a fish and chip supper with a few drinks and dance the night away in the famous ale buffet car – 7.30pm – 11pm.

Vintage trains – 19/06/16, 03/07/16, 17/07/16, 31/07/16, 07/08/16, 21/08/16 – Ride the older locomotives and coaches, many of which date back to Victorian times and rarely see public use.

Afternoon tea – 28/08/16, 29/08/16 – Enjoy afternoon tea in the traditional Pullman car.

Keighley Korma – 06/08/16 – Come on board for a superb curry from one of Keighley’s leading Indian restaurants and have a drink in the Award winning real ale buffet car.

The KWVR is famous for being a chosen set for a multitude of TV and Film productions, the 5 mile track offers an air of nostalgia and traditionalism and is perfect for periods between 1860 – 1960. What has it been used for so far?

Ingrow station hosts the Vintage Carriages Trust have the Museum of Rail Travel which is a fantastic excursion on your way along the track. At Oxenhope the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Trust house their valuable collection of restored carriages. It really is spectacular.
