Visit Haworth
Westfield Lodge Apartments are located above the village of Haworth (pronounced How-arth), an internationally famous picturesque village situated in West Yorkshire in the English Pennines.
Home of the Bronte Parsonage Museum, where the renowned literary Bronte family spent much of their lives, Haworth has moved on from being a hive of industrial activity in the 1800s to a popular tourist destination in the 21st century.
The Brontë Sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne Brontë were the authors of some of the best known English language books and lived at Haworth Parsonage from 1820 to 1861, along with their father, the Reverend Patrick Brontë, and brother Branwell.
The parsonage is now the Brontë Parsonage Museum, home of the Brontë Society. Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall were all written in the parsonage during the mid 1800s.
Haworth's cobbled (stone setts) Main Street forms the focal point of the village with the church and parsonage at the top and many good tea rooms, souvenir and bookshops, restaurants and pubs along its length. Much of today's Haworth revolves around catering for its various visitors but in earlier times the population would be mostly involved in weaving and textile manufacturing in the mills that were built along the River Worth Valley. The village and the surrounding area are popular with film and TV companies.
Haworth Railway Station is on the 5 mile long Keighley and Worth Valley Railway line, probably one of the best preserved steam railways in the country.
